As our youngest daughter approached her seventeenth birthday, deep in exam preparations, she asked for “an album of piano works to study and relax to” - inspired by the improvised music she had often heard me play at home.

The request prompted me to rethink the value of those spontaneous musical moments and became an opportunity to explore the full process of recording and production using Cubase. Written and recorded in the space of a week, For Sophie was released on her birthday as a collection of seven original piano pieces.

Despite no formal promotion, the album has since accumulated over 10,000 streams across more than 25 countries. Two of the pieces later developed into larger-scale works.
