Following the creation of For Sophie in 2021, I returned to two of its movements with the aim of developing them further. Blood Moon, originally conceived for guitar, was subsequently reimagined for wind quintet, taking on a fresh and more expansive character.

Structured in a broad ABA form, the work draws deeply on folk-inspired idioms and Dorian modality, combining driving rhythms with lyrical contrasts in a fast-paced and energetic musical landscape. As with much of my music, the emphasis lies not in virtuosity for its own sake, but in creating something vivid, engaging and rewarding for both performers and audiences alike.

The work was written for the Sospiri Wind Quintet.
